Group and individual work

After two days of play-testing we have polished our game some more. My dice rolling went like shit so I died really early on in the game so for me it became fast boring, but it wasn’t only my dice rolling that did it. We noticed that the wizard had become little too powerful with some of the new spells that had been added, so the changes we did to balance it was to make the most powerful spells into ”on use only’’. So when the wizard uses them they are entirely out of the game and are not shuffled back into the deck. However, if the wizard discards any of those spells then they are shuffled into the deck as usual because they weren’t used.

The reason we did this was because of a new spell called Regrowth that lets the wizard to pick any card from the graveyard, and it was too over-powered to let the wizard use the cards more than once. But to balance it even more so the wizard wouldn’t get too weak those spells can’t be canceled by any player. So when the wizards uses the cards there are nothing to do about it, but the wizard has to use them carefully so he/she doesn’t waste them.

The following cards are the once that only can be used once:

Whirlwind – Pushes all the players on the same tile to a separate tile around it and summons two level five monsters in the middle so that the players just can’t walk back to the tile they were pushed out from.

Evil Laugh – As many players there are on a tile, that many turns are skipped for those players. Example: if 4/4 players are on the same tile and the dungeon master decides to throw ‘’Evil laught’’ then the players can’t do anything for four turns, which gives the dungeon master the opportunity to build its hand.

Demon Invasion – summons two level five monsters and two illusions.

My Individual work

Except from play-testing I’ve been working more on the loot cards and the wizard tower, which been take much longer than expected and therefor I’m not quite done with anything yet. But this is how far I’ve got.

The tree swords, Noob, Mediocre and Awesome:

I’m going to add some more details to the two first swords but the main change that needs to be done is the sword of awesome. As it is at the moment it represents more a dark lord of some kind than a ‘’good guy’’. So I’m going to change the shapes and colors to reach my goal.

Amulet and Potions:

Untitled-2

The amulet contains magic and does so the wizard has to cancel one action that costs 5 mana or less. There are some details to be added but this is a fast sketch of what I want it to look like. If my group approves the idea I’m going to continue working on it making the chain more detailed and add some more glow to the amulet.
The same comes to the potions, im going to add more detail to them and play little more with them to come up with some new designs. The potions we have in game at the moment are Health Potion, Hi-Potion, Potion of Strength (3 different which give +2, +3 and +4 on a dice-roll in combat) and potion of speed which allows the player to move two tiles instead of one.

Wizard Tower:

This is the wizard tower (what it looks like so far). It’s a little bigger than I imagined it to be but I’m not quite sure what to do about that. At first I wanted a pointy roof, but that would be a problem because it would be harder for all players to see all the tiles, the mana spin (which is the roof) and it would also be harder to place tokens on it, therefor I left the roof flat. But to make it at least more interesting I added some spikes to it.

There are some work left to be done and what I know for sure is that I’m going to repaint it in lighter colors and add much more detail to it and also make the arrow which shows how much mana the dungeon master has.

Hopefully I’ll get done with the tower this weekend so I have full focus on the cards the following and last week of this project.
