https://aetherialcode.wordpress.com/2018/03/01/learning-about-sound-design-and-feedback/ Hi Matthias! Since I am also the lead sound of my group I can relate to your post a lot. I too had some experience with playing certain instruments (not 10 years of classic music like you, but still), and had to basically learn how to create sound effects on my own. I like how the process you developed is very similar to mine. I too look for sounds that have the right dynamics and then add appropriate effects to the sound, or edit them in different ways to sound right. I also agree with the fact that learning the software was the hardest part. I personally found Ableton to be way easier for me, but I also used FL studio at first. Something I can definitely recommend is that many of the leading brands in terms of virtual instruments and effects have massive student discounts (often 50%). In the end, it is up to every person how seriously they want to take the task of creating sound effects, but it really is fun once you get started, and for me 100% worth the investment. I like how your post is structured. It is short but sweet. There is very little filler and I find it impressive how you managed to get so much interesting information in so little text. Since I liked it so much and it was an interesting topic for me, I would have liked it to be longer. Would it have been better if it was longer? That I do not know. Overall, I think you did a very good job of explaining things in a manner that was very clear. The text has an excellent flow and it was interesting to hear about the way you did some research watching GDC-videos. I personally did not even consider that (not the brightest person) so I kind of felt stuck, not really knowing where to start. Explaining your process in such detail allows other readers to use your process, if they want to learn themselves. Your post therefore has great value, and I had a good time reading it.
