Filthy Flashy Game Design

Right now we’re tasked to design a 2D-shoot ’em up game in groups. We were also given two words that we have to design our game from. Our words were “flash” and “filthy”. When I first heard the words we were given I thought it would be hard to make a game based around them because I first thought of them as opposites that couldn’t really exist at the same time. However when we started brainstorming ideas for the game it became evident quite quickly that that wasn’t the case, and I think that our concept can convey these words well. We also have also been assigned roles in this project. I took the role of lead artist which means I’m in charge of designing everything aesthetic in the game together with the rest of the artists. Right now my job is to come up with how our protagonist and NPCs should look like. I’m making progress but I’m not really happy with how the things I draw turn out. They’re a bit to nice look at for what we are trying to do. Hopefully I’ll be able to draw some creatures that I feel are sufficiently “filthy” for my taste. |
