Narrative Assignment

So the last week we did an analysis on the story of Bioshock Infinite. Which was, put in simple terms, tough. Firstly I found the whole thing about “3 Act”, “9 Act” and “Heroes Journey” to be extremely confusing. It was not until I had seen my friends hand in that I thought I understood what it was all about. I then chose to do it with the template of a “Heroes Journey”, which I am not so sure was a smart idea. A lot of things seemed to be very ambigious, like the “call to adventure”. It could have been the descent down into the cavern in the start of the game, where Booker sees the signs saying “last chance of redemption”. Or it could have been the flashback where Robert Lutece tells Booker to “get the girl, and wipe away the debt”. I chose the latter but this theme went on through out the assignment, every part of the “Heroes Journey” felt like it could have been one of several different things.

Though after some polishing I still think that I did an OK job with the assignment. The story however did have a very interesting ending. Using the multiverse theory they build a pretty stable foundation for mindgaming, and it is also kind of fun to watch different videos on Youtube where they “explain” the ending. Which would then imply that they know they are the one with the right answer.

Well that is all for this week, now I am back to try and polish on my pitch speech.
