Rigging and animating!
|
Hello! The only other times I have done any rigging and animating was in 3DS Max and Motionbuidler. However, that was using CAT rigs, which are essentially pre-rigged skeletons that are simply applied onto a mesh. These rigs are mainly for humans and animals, so in this case it would not work, since the mesh was of a mushroom that would close and open when the player stand on it.
With 49 bones in total, the segments of the shroom would close together, enveloping the player. The player would then be moved to a different location, as if being swallowed by the shroom, and then the shroom would open up again. In total it had 90 frames of animation of it closing, opening, and an idle.
However, due to technical issues in the engine with colliders, as well as time constraints, the mushroom had to be cut entirerly from the game. The animations worked, but not together with the player character.
