6. FEAR IS IN ME
|
We have now worked with the game Fear is in me for almost two months now and much have happened during the development of it. We have both had up and down during our work but what’s great about both is that we always had something to learn from it. Weather it was how not to do or how to do it helped us improve as designers together in one way or another. The scrum method was new for all of us when we started and was a helpful method to use when working on group projects like this one. I now know that it is very important to write in all of your process and future plans and then actually follow that plan. It is helpful to have everything on the same place which makes is easy to check on your own and others progress. I however noticed that we could have been even more clear when documenting. For example I feel like some of the sounds I made did not end up and the game, which made the game rather boring and hard to understand. In my opinion the sound in a horror game is a very important part of the experience, and I learned that we should have focused on the sounds a little bit earlier for them to get implemented. Besides that our team was worth its weight in gold. We never had any major problems with each other and respected each others choices and ways to work. This led to well functioned group that worked well together. We never had any big arguments and rather discussed together what was the best way to do certain things or just what exactly we wanted the end result to be like. Even though we were a small group with only four people we managed to end up with a game, we might had wanted it to have more to it but sometimes there are just not enough time. We can not forget the fact that this was our first ever made game and when I think of it like that i’m happy with the end result. The game kinda looked as we wanted it to, with a scary feeling and a background getting darker and darker the longer you got into the game. However the game did not act or sound exactly the way we wanted it to and therefore lost a lot of the feeling we intended it to have. For example the trees did not have any collision and we did not have time to do the tweaking the game needed for it the become a good game. Since no one of us had much experience in using Unity everything took longer than expected, which lead to us not having time to implement all the sounds we intended the game to have. To summarize it, we ended up with a scary looking game that were not actually scary since it had no sound, that also had no game-feeling to it. We ended up with somewhat a game but I think it could have been even better if we had planned everything a bit differently. Then maybe we would have had time to implement the missing sound effects, background ambience and fixing some other rather minor things that would have improved the game experience a lot.
