Final Assignment – Construction
|
One half of the last assignment for our 2D graphics course was to construct a character from an allready drawn loose sketch. I decided to put what I’ve learned about line-weight finally to practise. Using “Kyle T Websters Ultimate Inking Thick n’ Thin” brush which can be bought here:https://gumroad.com/kyletwebster I could really emphasize where thicker lines should be. To the left is the loose sketch and to the right is what I came up with Working with thicker lines worked really great for me and I’ve learned alot from it. I know there are more subtile ways of showing line thickness in line art, but this was a way for me to really see how it works clearly and what difference it makes. I’ve learned that even when working with only lines that it is important to have a light source. It is so that you can know where the shadows will be cast and where the thinner lines should be. I had really fun with this and did my own thing. Line-weight became so much clearer for me and I will continue working on thinner lines that are more common when doing line art now that I grasp the logic behind it. I’m very happy with the result and I really like the style of using thicker lines. This is something I will definitely continue on doing in the future. |
