Scrum

Hello everyone!
In this blog post I will talk to you about mine and our group experience with the scrum and how it has affected our development.
Our team had a bit of a rocky start with the scrum work plan the first week, before we learned how to use it. Our Project Manager did an excellent job at explaining everything once we started getting the hang of it. And after the first  week everything was running smoothly.
Our Manager was in charge of the scheduling, so me and my Manager sat down and discussed what features were important and should be focused on.
We broke down the entire game into features and assets and divided them into the weeks we had.
We also took our MVP’s features and made sure each important deadline, like the alpha, beta and finished game, matched our criteria.
When we showed the schedule to the rest of the team we also made sure everyone was on the same page that schedule will change over time, that this one was just temporary to make it easier to see what we have time to do.

So after we had the basic sprint plans for each week, we started meeting the whole group every Monday to make sure everyone knew what tasks they were doing this, and how many hours they estimated it would take to complete.
We were a bit humble the first week, didn’t put too many tasks in so everyone were able to finish early.

During the weeks we always kept in touch with each other over slack, and we always met up for a daily sprint meeting to see how everyone was doing and where they were at with the tasks they were given.
And finally we meet up on Fridays to complete our sprint, we see where we are at in the project, if we are ahead or if it was something we missed that week. If something took longer than we anticipated we moved it till next week.

Our Scrum sessions helped or team a lot when we got the hang of it.
When we started communicating with each other on daily basis, and when we had a clear view of what we have do, what we have done and what we are doing right now. It felt like we make progress in fast way, and to see your evolve every week is amazing.
