Weekly assignment #3 Enemy character – Again.
|
Hello again! So this week has been some what of a rerun of the first week. During the first weeks we decided to go with an isometric perspective of our game to play at our strong side, since we were twice the graphic students than we are programmers (4/2). Some problems came and up and our group didn’t have the knowledge to implement isometric graphic to an isometric view. This left us with isometric graphic, which could not be implemented to the game. At this point we had to abandon the isometric perspective, and go with full top down view. All the graphic work I did were of no use and I had to throw it away, and start making top down graphic. So I will post a picture of my work, and some thoughts on how I thought it went and how it could go better. So I stated painting my character, and when I was done I started to animate it. Later on I realized this would not work, since I messed up and drew on different layers, and overall it were a messy work that I did not complete like I should have. This was another set back since I had to start all over again and do it better. However this was the right thing to do since the end result were much better this time, and I can see that I put much more effort in to version 2 of the character, than version one. The animation is not quite done yet, so I cant post anything about that, but I will be done with it soon enough. The important part is that it will meet the deadline that I set.
To the left you can see version 2 of my design, and to the right the first version. As you can see the lineart is much cleaner at v2, and the details are much clearer as well. Not only is it better now, but I have coordinated between my layers in an effective way, so when I am going to animate I have much more control over what is in what layer of my Photoshop document. What I could have done better is to do it to my best potential right away, since I wasted one session at drawing v1 and another on animating it, I wasted two work session on something I did not use at all, and that is a waste of time that I could have used for something else. Until next time, take care! Adam |
