A Slow “Big Game Project” Week

This week passed by really fast and not much work was done. First two days I finished UV-texturing the commander him self (not the building) and I was really pleased by the final results but then I was assigned a new task, to 3D-model a fountain. At each teams base there is supposed to be some sort of holy sculpture of a troll healing the players close to it.

I started of modeling it and finishing the UV-texture. I even made a high-poly mesh to bake onto the low-poly but for some odd reason I’ve never had before I had extremely visible normal map seams. These seams were located exactly on the top of the head meaning thats the part people will notice the most and for some reason I couldn’t solve it. I tried re-sculpt the high-def model without messing with the wire-frame too much and even bake it in parts but no matter what I did it wouldn’t be fixed. I finally tried assigning a completely empty Normal map (because that is the texture messing up) and found out it was messed up ether way.

I have never encountered this problem before, I searched for hours on the internet but no one was able to solve it and I ended up just simply deleting the files. I spent way too much on that model and decided to remake it next week unless I got other things to do and in that case I will hand it to another team-member.

But like I said, the commander was a success and here are some images!:
