Big Game Project week 1
|
The time has come for a new game project! And just like last time I will blog about the progress throughout the development. In the coming weeks I will be working on a game concept called Kei which is about a girl that is not welcome in Game Town anymore and her struggle to get accepted in the town. My role in this project will be as a 3D artist and I will mostly be working with the environment in the game. I will also make sure the models that I create gets imported into Unity correctly and possibly also build parts of the level inside the engine. This past week has been the first week of production for the group and I have been creating quick models that can be used to get a feel for the world that we want to create and what we don´t want to create. First of I started modeling a few different houses with different designs to see what would be working together. Here are the first iterations:
After these houses the group evaluated the design and how they looked inside of Unity. To be able to get more variations from the houses we decided to try a more modular approach than what these models are. The images down under shows the separate buildings inside of Unity.
The second iteration that I made is a set of boxes and frames that are designed to be put together inside Unity and hopefully this will give us the ability to create a lot more variations of houses. The image down under shows the modular buildings inside of Unity.
After these houses I also created some small things to fill the world with, such as lamp posts, billboards and signs. The design guidelines that have been set is is a blocky and angular design that I have been trying to follow.
Of these things the Pacman ghost sign and the lamp posts is the ones that I am most happy with how they turned out. That is all that I did in my first week of the Big Game Project and I will keep you updated every week until we hopefully can show off the game at the GGC conference at the end of this course. |
