[5SD037] New Project & Introduction

Hello there stranger, and welcome to another developer blog on the internet. This is the first out of six blog posts where I will talk about the development of a game project called The Summoning. We are currently six members in the team, three programmers and three artists. We also have a compositor studying at Gotlands Tonsättarskola to help us with music for the game. I will try to include a link in a later post 🙂

 

Gameplay Summary
In The Summoning you either take on the role as one of the chosen few human soldiers, whose mission is overthrow the ruling demon overlord who’s been tormenting the world. Or you take on the role as that very demon, as you try to prevent the humans from succeeding with their mission. The game is viewed from a top down perspective, and the graphics are in 3D. The Summoning is a top-down perspective 3D game that will pitch players against each other in an environment of asymmetrical gameplay. The game combines some of the mechanics of a real time strategy game and an action adventure. It is set in a fictional world inspired by the Asian Japanese

 

My primary role in the team will be Lead Programmer, which makes me responsible for making sure all programmers follow a certain standard and helps them keep track on what features are of most importance. But I will also be responsible for the basic networking solution and the AI (artificiell intelligence) solution in the game, not because of my role as lead programmer but instead because of my previous experience from previous projects.

 

I don’t have much else to share at the moment since we are still early in development. However I hope I can teach something to my readers in a future post, so please stick around if you feel like it 🙂
