Snow Day Mayhem – Update!
|
The Alpha last week went well. The teachers rated our game in the same way the judges do during GGC, that is, on a scale from 0 to 30. If you get above 6 you pass the Alpha, and we got 7,5. I think that was a fair judgement, since our game was still very much in an alpha state. We’ve changed some graphics and added some things, so this is what the game looks like right now: The placement of the campfires and the tree isn’t final ;P We made the border smaller and more uniform. The campfires reduce the snowball’s size, so you can accidentally run into them or one of the other players can knock you into it! You can also dash into the tree, which makes snow fall down so that you can pick it up. We finally managed to get the animations working. Right now we’re working on making them more exaggerated to make everything look and feel good. We’re currently struggling a bit with the clouds (or the shadows) you might be able to see in the picture. We want them to come in and drop snow here and there, but at the moment it looks a bit odd. It looks more like smoke than anything. And we’re still working on implementing at least four powerups. We had some issues where some code disappeared when we merged the project, so the programmers are working on fixing it now. I’m looking forward to the playtesting tomorrow, both to test our game and to try out everyone elses! |
