BGP – Week 1 &2 Pre-production phase
|
We are making a game in the course Big Game Project, so I’ve returned to this blog to write a weekly post about my work on the project. I’m working on the game project Scrap Pirates, which is a 2D Co-op Metroidvania game that focuses on exploration and puzzle-solving using magnetism. I will focus mainly on level and game design in this project, so that’s what I will be writing about on this blog. We’re three weeks into the project now, so I thought I would just quickly summarize the first two weeks: The first two weeks of this project was dedicated to planning the project. During the first week, the group set up a scrum document where we plan our weekly tasks and a backlog with important deadlines and assets that we need to create in the project, and we also wrote a production plan. The second week the group began working on the game and created moodboards/style guides for the graphics and began programming the player controls. I worked on the Design Document together with the team’s producer Jenny during this week and researched level design a bit. – – – Since this week has just started I don’t have that much to say yet, but I’ll be writing about it in a few days. I’m currently starting out my work on the level design, planning the layout of the levels and trying out whiteboxing them in unity together with Jenny, and it has worked well so far apart for some minor issues with unity. But that’s all for now… stay tuned! |
