BGP – Day 26

Animation Issues..

I thought I was going to get to work on the animations today, but guess what, more problems! Today was an issue regarding the rotation of the arm, where the arm didn’t rotate with the hand as it should and didn’t even move with the hand. Causing this:

What I figures is that since the RIG has an extra bone for the forearm to simulate a more realistic rotation/deformation of the arm this might be the problem. So what i did is that I removed that extra bone and tried without it. It did solve the above problem but the issue of getting the forearm to rotate with the hand remained.

No one in the group had an answer for this issue so I started to search the internet for answers. Strangely enough searching for ”rotating arms in motionbuilder” wasn’t specific enough, but when I started look into the rotation function known as ”Leaf roll” I got a better result. I found out that you have to activate the HIK 2016 Solver to get the rotation function and voilà, it works!

I could then continue to start with the characters relaxed and ready pose. More of that tomorrow.
