Theme Park

Oh wow, I am saying it again, ooooohh wooow. What a week! It has been the first week for theme park, a course where I and my team will make an arcade game with an unusual input (that means we can’t use keyboard and mouse or a any handheld game controller). So me and my group have started working on a concept on a game where you play as a planet and you swing astroids using your gravitaional pull, that you can turn off and on, in order to hit and kill the other planet, who is your opponent.

It has been intresting starting on a new project. There is a lot of uncertanty in the beginning of a project but I feel that after today  that I am now more certain. I am the producer of this group, that means I have to keep everything in order and make sure communication is good. I also greenlight art and ideas and have the final say in debates. I will rule with an iron fist and I will reign supreme as the god-emporor of mankind. And by that I mean I will work with the group and listen to all of them and make decisions based on the groups opinions.

We are plaaning on using a squeezy small ball as our input. We want to be able to move a ball and that would move the planer on screen, squezing the ball will activate the gravitational pull, letting go will de-activate it.
So here is our first prototype of the game and oh-boy was it fun to play:

prototype

The red and blue circles are the planets and the gray blobs are astroids. When the red and blue balls is loosing color it means that we are activating the gravitational pull.

And here is how we graphics artists want the game to look in the end:

B-E-A-utiful.
I look forward to the rest of the project.
(also we are calling this game Gravity Sling, like in the actual effect Gravitaional Slingshot)
