Assignment 3 – Character game world

In my latest blog post I wrote about the background of the character I got to model and skin as the last assignment of our 3D graphics course. In this post I’ll be talking a about the character world for the Pilot character I chose for my pre-production package that is going to be modeled by Henrik Forsman (http://barthuc.wordpress.com). Now, onto the Pilot character’s game world. The world I imagine my character lives in is that of one esthetically similar to the Twilight Town in the ps2 game Kingdom Hearts 2 with a touch of steampunk. The town itself is small where most people know each other, are kind to one another and trading goods between close by towns is their main source of income. The town in rich of mines, where most people within the town work, that are filled with all different kinds of metals. The town’s own produced metals are of exquisite quality and are well known throughout the world.

Because the town is so rich on metals and because it is so easy to get a hold of many inhabitants have as their hobby to create different kinds of metal work (both decorative and functional) that can be found throughout town. The abundance of metal is also one of the reasons why racing is so important to this city. Inhabitants create their own vehicles of choice to compete in the city races on who is the fastest. The winner of the big annual cup that is held every summer tends to become a town celebrity whose name is on everybody’s lips.

The town takes place in current time and society is built similar to as we know it in the real world, with normal life expectancy and even distribution between adults, children, male and female. The currency is different colored metal coins as well as rare cut stones. The town’s inhabitants are cartoony looking humans close to what is also found in the game Kingdom Hearts 2 with a mix of the characters found in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The town itself has an aura of warmth, magic and wonder with sunrises and sunsets that really are a treat for the people visiting the town as well as the inhabitants.

The inhabitants believe in being good to each other and helping others in need. They are very social and love social gatherings, hence the festivals and city races.  The people of this town believe that they originate from the stars and that the stars are their gods. So you could say that the starry night is their temple that they pray to every night. They have faith in reincarnation where when you die you return to the stars as important as a god. They do also believe that the abundance of metals is in a way the “earth stars” that they should cherish and enjoy.
