New course: 2D computer graphics: Theory and application 2

Now I have started on a new course called 2D computer graphics: Theory and application 2. This is the follow up to the course 2D computer graphics: Theory and application 1 that I had in the last period. In this course we basically continue from what we did in the last course.

This week we have an assignment to draw our kitchen in either one or two point perspective. We were also supposed to choose an IP (Wiki) of our choice and draw our kitchen again with the same perspective but with the chosen IP.

The IP i chose was Minecraft because that is a game I have played a lot and I thought that the cartoony and pixelated graphics of Minecraft would make it a fun thing to try to mimic.

This is the result of my kitchen when I drew it from a perspective and tried to make it look like it actually looks.

And here is the result of my attempt to make it look like Minecraft.

I don’t think that I managed to mimic Minecraft very successfully and a reason to that I think is that I drew it by hand and not in Photoshop where it had been much easier to make the pixels covering the blocks in Minecraft. But at the same time I tried to give it the Minecraft feel of the design without copying the design straight off.

The problem I have with Photoshop is that I haven’t found a way to use something to get the function of a ruler. There is rulers in Photoshop but those only make straight lines. And the line tool in Photoshop doesn’t work like a ruler either and therefore I do not think it is useful enough.
