Postmortem

This project has been fun, but hard! We managed to make a functioning “shoot ‘em up” game. It is not the best game ever, and probably not the best version of Umibozu, but I am proud of what we have done. The art does not look that bad at all and it is indeed playable. The whole process of choosing a design document, doing the pre-production, actually producing the game and to present the finished product has been a hell of a journey. We have had our ups and downs and moments when we could have done things differently, but I guess that is the whole point of doing this. Learning. I have learned so much from this project. One of the bigger things I learned is the importance of good teamwork. It is crucial to have good communication and that everyone pulls their weight. If the communication is bad no one knows what anyone else is doing or what you yourself is supposed to do, and if someone is slacking behind then someone else must take on more work to have everything done in time. I worked with a really good team and learned a lot from them about how to work in a group. I hope that I am a better group member now than I was before. It has been a good experience in the way of learning how the industry works. If they are working with scrum we have had a great opportunity to try it out and get comfortable with the ways of scrum. The blog posts, though complicated, has been a good experience. It has been helpful to read about other teams work process and their struggles, and how they have solved their problems. I have not been giving much feedback in my life, but with this assignment I have been forced to analyse and think about the texts in more ways than just the reading. I have also learned a lot about myself. I now know that I am capable of so much more than I thought if I just work for it! It is a great feeling knowing that there is capacity in me, and that if I just try I can do great things.
