4. More sounds
|
This week I worked with some sounds for our game. In the beginning of this week I borrowed a disk from Finn with a lot of non-copyright sounds on it. It have helped me very much since there are sounds that i can’t produce myself and the internet could not provide me with good quality sounds like this. I worked specifically with the sounds for one of our enemies together with the sounds for the playable character. The sounds I needed to find was some kind of flapping sound from the bats wings for it’s movement and a squeak when it attacks and dies. We were also thinking of having a frying sound when the light hits the enemies. For the playable character we already had a loopable walking sound but still needed a sound when she dies or faints together with sounds for all the different pick up and use of the power-ups. Besides this I wanted to find some sort of loopable sound to have in the background before the Beta. I found most of the sounds mentioned above on the disk I borrowed. I edited most of them to fit the game better before sending them to our programmer. For example i had to edit the sound I found for the background to make it loopable. I found a sound with crickets very fitting to our game since it take place in a forest at night. I edited it in Audacity and it was surprisingly easy to make it loop in a good way. I simply cut the first part of the sound and put it at the end then just worked with the place where the cut parts was to make them fit together in a smoot way. For the squeaks of the bat I again found a fitting sound from the disk I got. This time I had to change the pitch and also cut some parts away to make it fit which was easily done after some weeks using Audacity. I found the rest of the sounds on the Finn’s collection and only had to cut them a bit to make them usable. For the Alpha test we had no sounds at all which is why we have focused more on it for this next milestone. the next milestone we really wanted to get some sounds for our game with is why we focused a lot more on it these sprints then earlier also because it was not really our first priority in the first weeks. |
