Redoing the animations before Beta…
|
It’s almost time for the next beta submission and everyone is barely wasting any time. Last time during the alpha presentation, few of the games were already way ahead of the others and not to mention as everyone in m group being totally new in this education without any prior experience, we were not one of them. However, the team effort was never less and thus at this beta point, we have a much better illustration of the game than we expected.
I had to work on my sprites and animations from the scratch again and this time, they were much better in quality compared to the old ones and fits rather well within the gameplay. The previous animations did not have any squash, stretch, and anticipation in them which made them look bland in a way. So after re-drawing the characters, I added a little head bopping when the player moves which made it look more fluid in nature. For the rabbit, the same application applied in the body with a little change in movement actions. Now they look more like hopping rather than just changing phases before. Redoing everything took a lot of time and it was stressful but the finished results were worth it. Most of the old animations were done by using puppet transform which worked but looked kind of stiff and funky whereas the new ones have a different art style and are done by the regular frame animation.
We also learned about parallax recently which I applied in the background. So rather than just having a single sprite in the background, now it has three separate ones moving in different offsets which makes them look much better while transitioning. The only things that we are left with at this point in the game which we are going to work after the beta presentation are final boss implementation and final UI fix. Even though none of us in the group have any sound tweaking experience, one of our member is trying her best with it and as our own opinion, it is coming good. Now what awaits is to showcase the finished project in the beta presentation and get more feedbacks for improvement. Thank you for reading this, hope you are having a good one. |
