#4 PreBeta Work: Player Feature #2

As the time before Beta Presentations draws closer and closer I find myself having to delegate my time efficiently and effectively. It doesn’t help that I recently purchased the game Celeste and played it a shit ton this week and forgoed some of my work, but I did manage to make a lot of progress this week!

Working on the Big Boi Weapon
downloadThis Week most of the coding I did revolved around our Player Big Boi Gun as well as setting the foundation for our boss battle. The group and I decided that a Large Laser would suffice as the choice, however, once we saw all the other groups implement lasers that seemed unsatisfactory I started working on something else… Missiles.

Currently I am in the progress of creating a fun missile system unlike realistic missiles. It started with the player shooting one large missile that would explode on impact with an enemy while also destroying the floating islands and other objects within our scene.

But, I decided it wouldn’t be fun enough for the players so I am currently either going to implement it into a swarm of missiles that shoots out from the player and seeks targets until all the missiles run out or until there is nothing left to destroy >:D.

Otherwise, I will make it so the missiles follow the player around and seek targets within a certain range. It will create a fun little safety net for players as well as having cute missiles follow them around that can deal destructive damage to all our enemies!

By the end of the week I will have solidified exactly how I want the missiles to act, but so far I have had a blast implementing them and working on making them fun and powerful within our game.

What else I have been doing
Other than working on the missile weapon I have created a boss body and abilities without writing any new code as of yet, we still need to see if we have enough time to implement the boss so I am not sinking a lot of time into it at the moment.

Otherwise I have almost finished most of my touch up assignments for the beta involving: projectile fixes, spawner changes, and lastly particle effects!the_angry_whale_by_blissard.jpg
