Blog feedback 1 Jesper Bergman: https://jesperbergmangame.wordpress.com/2018/02/07/blog-1-test/ I liked the ending a lot, were you reflected on what went wrong on your part and how you could improve as designer in future projects. The text is a little hard to follow when you don’t first explain how the mist was supposed to work according to the concept document. Because you didn’t explain how it first worked I didn’t understand the difference between the mist and the darkness, to me they seemed to be the same mechanic. Also, for next time maybe try to explain further what type of problems you or your group had. Why were you struggling to come up with an idea that would help the group? And what were problems that the art and programming team encountered? And so on. Besides from that, great post! // Hampus Bergström Blog feedback 2 David Åström : https://davidastromgame.wordpress.com/2018/02/15/feedback-gathering/ Great post! I can really see the value in just observing the player and taking notes during play-testing after reading this. I think it would have benefited your post a lot if you also explained a little bit further of what you exactly observed as this was a little bit unclear for me. The example you gave of the feedback about the shooting mechanic was good, I think it would have been even better if you had a couple of more examples. This way you could more clearly show what you learned by just observing that you wouldn’t have learned by just having a survey or asking interview style questions. Besides that, I think it was a good post that was easy to understand and see the value in. Having different ways of gathering data from play-testing is important, as just one method can’t answer all your questions. So it was a good idea of you to just observe and taking notes while they played. Keep the good work up and good luck with your game! Hampus Bergström Blog feedback 5 Zhang, Hangning: https://hangningdevourer.wordpress.com/2018/03/09/the-best-guidance-play-testing/comment-page-1/#comment-9 Hello, my name is Hampus Bergström. Good and interesting post! You did a great job explaining why you need to playtest the game externally as people involvement in the development of the game is to familiar with the different game mechanics. Adding different difficult levels was a smart way of making the game more accessible to players of different levels of skill. Though I am curious, what made the game so difficult to balance? What did the players struggle with during the testing? You Say that many players had problem with the second enemy, but why? And why was that hard to balance? You also speak about that you took the the feedback about the art and music into consideration after the playtesting, but you never go into detail of what that feedback was. I think if you would have expanded upon that, it would have made your post even greater. Overall, a well structured and clear post that in a good and interesting way show just how important external playtesting is to get just the right difficult level for the game. Great work and I look forward playing the game soon!

The vast majority of your post is about this mistake but what other mistakes did you do during the development and what did you learn from them? Also, I would have loved to hear a little bit about the team dynamics and what went good and bad as teamwork goes. Otherwise great post, and a great game! Good work and I look forward to seeing what you will create for the next course. Good luck in the future! Hampus Bergström |
