Comment 2 : Chen’s blog background tile

Interesting post about the tile for your game. The camera angle you picked for your game made it a bit more difficult on you than if it was a simple top view.
I can see with what intention your first tile was made, the color and the texture fit into the aesthetic goal.
I also agree that it was too detailed and caught the eye of the player so it was a wise choice to switch the contrast of the tile on your second try.

Thats a problem you did not mention at first, that the tiles of the floor you created looked rather big but you corrected that with your last tile, however the last one lacks texture and details and it still does not fit the perspective. It looks like a straight up grid.
I understand the process that took you to the last tile, which is the least detailed one. However, the second tile had texture and didnt catch the eye of the player so I would have personnaly kept that one, tilt it so that the perspective is right and the tiles in the back appear smaller than the ones of the front and I would have reduced the size of the tiles.

You could also simply had some texture to your final tiles, think dirt, broken tiles, stains, shoe steps and then you should tilt it so it fits the 3/4view.

Otherwise good job on the reflection and the process, the shadows were a good addition and the characters look scary!
