Using Scrum

In my opinion, Scrum have been very useful from the very start of this project. As the producer (project leader) of the project, the several approaches within Scrum have helped me maintain the right course of the project. By using the Product Backlog, filling in all the numerous features, have made it easy to follow the progress of the project. Since the Product Backlog is updated daily, it is easy to follow the process of all the team members. The Sprint Planning is also a useful spreadsheet, since it gives the reader a good overview of what will be done during the Sprint. All the different spreadsheets provide all the information that is needed to get a general idea of what is happening in the project at the moment. This helps me to be more organised, as well as being updated on what is happening on a daily basis. As a producer, you need to know what’s going on. The different spreadsheets provide me with a clear picture of the project.

The daily stand-up meetings have also been highly favourable in my opinion. By getting an individual update on the progress, it provides the whole team with an even clearer picture of the project. These meetings also provide a good opportunity for discussions to arise, matters that we can either solve immediately, or which can be discussed further when we are working together. By having these meetings, every team member also need to be truthful about their progress. Daily stand-up meetings also prevent procrastination, since every individual need to inform the team about what they have done and what they will work on during the day. Thereby, this creates a motivation for the team to complete their assigned artifacts.

In another aspect, working in Sprints have been very efficient, since we continuously update the product every week; implementing all the finished artifacts in the game. This makes it easier to find faults and errors in the game, which can then be corrected immediately. If we would have worked in a more traditional way (for instance with the waterfall method), it would have been more difficult to find bugs in the product early. By using Scrum, the team gets a better overview of how the product looks at the current time. Therefore, it allows the team to recognise the features they are satisfied with and the features they are not satisfied with. Thereby, creating a working product every week, and not work on something for several weeks and then realise nothing works.
