Working with ScrumFor this blog the goal is to describe and analyse how working with Scrum has affected the development of this project. As usual I will try to provide some reasoning and reflection around the topic. The main idea with Scrum is that with frequent communication and clearly defined requirements make sure that everyone knows what needs to be done, and who is working on what. This in turn allows for a faster and more flexible workflow. Scum also emphasises continuous testing and feedback so that potential problems can be identified and fixed as quickly as possible. All of this is in the end supposed to increase team morale, reduce the development time, heighten customer satisfaction and better the quality of the finished product. I feel like Scrum has been really helpful to me and my team. The product backlog and weekly sprint plans have helped us to keep a good pace while always having a clear goal in mind as for what we want to get done each week. Another benefit of Scrum is that while we decide together on what we want to implement in the game until next week, we get to decide by ourselves in which order we want to work and when we work on it. So as long as we get done with it and attend to the daily meetings we can schedule our working time to fit our needs. This has helped me to maintain a high morale and be as productive as possible.
To organise all of these different tasks my product manager has set up a Trello board that we use to keep track of the progress of the team and it helps to show not only what is being worked on, but also if it has been implemented and what we have left to do. Scrum also helps us to adapt to feedback and re-think Ideas and concept in order to improve out game. This has been the thing that I personally feel has been the largest advantage of Scrum. So overall the use of Scrum has helped keep the workflow flowing along nicely and relived me of some stress. |
