Eating We now have a way to throw food to the critter by the use of the touchscreen. In this game you are supposed to care for your critter and raise it as you wish it to become in its adult stage. To do this you are suppose to treat it well (or not so well) in order to get the wished result. Here i was assigned to create a system that firstly keeps track of the amount of different food consumed by the critter, and the various stats that they change. For example, in the beginning of the game you have three variants of food to give the critter. These where meat, vegetables and cupcakes. All three of them satisfy the hunger-stat equally. Here the player has some choices to make, do you want to create a herbivorous, carnivorous or omnivorous critter. If you throughout the critters life feed it only meat its hunger-stat will eventually become more satisfied by meat and less by the vegetables and vice versa. To make this happen i had to create two variables that keeps track of the amount of meat and vegetables consumed. As the value reaches a certain height above the other foodstuff, the value for satisfying hunger will be, before it is added to the critters hunger-stat, increased by a multiplier to symbolize the critters ”love” for the food. Therefore, in time, it will also increase the happiness-stat of the critter. To even the score between omnivorous critters and the rest we have the cupcake, that in the early stages of the game can help the player to secure the critters happiness.
Showering and Brushing…coming soon As you play the game you will be able to shower and brush your critter, to keep it clean and happy. Since the happiness-stat somewhat depends on several other stats, the creature need to be kept clean, not to tired, and not to warm or cold. In the next post i will talk about how i created the objects and the systems that changes these stats of the critter.
