GGC and Computers
|
Hello! GGC is over for this year! We had a lot of people playing our game and it was fun. First of im happy about the feedback we got for our art in the game, this was one of my personal goals that this game would look great, and I think we did a pretty good job. As for the gameplay and the puzzles, the feedback we got was good and diverse but we should just have playtest it more to make the puzzles better. But overall, I’m happy with the result. We are still waiting for the feedback from the jury, that will be interesting to see what they have to say. I forgot to tell you guys to go check out our trailer, we made this about one week before GGC so the game has changed a bit. But go check it out, just click here. We spend the last week before GGC to polish the game and to update some of the meshes and textures. One of the things I updated was the computer monitor and the keyboard. The material I put for the keyboard was a modified material I did as an experiment for this project. It was basically a panner material with emissive. I will talk about this material in a later post. I don’t really know what else I can say about my process as it’s similar to the one when I made the digital keypad. The first thought was to make a curved monitor as I think they look cool. I made two sets of texture for it so I could vertex paint it. As we are using widgets in unreal for the display when the player is using it, I really didn’t have to make a texture for it. But as some of the monitors in the game are either off or broken so I had to make those textures. The broken ones were for the second dimension. I made a mask for the emissive color in photoshop to use on the keyboard. All I did was to save the UV-map and put it in photoshop, this helped me know where I could put the digits and letters for the keyboard, it was just a simple black and white texture. Here’s some pictures. See ya! |
