Neon Skies – Week 7
|
This week was chaotic as some were sick and others couldn’t work, as such, much of the work was done remotely.
Destroyed mining drone After a suggestion on how we should deal with neon, we’ve started to make many of the things with white emissive material that we later change in Unity. When importing it into Unity I had a lot of issues with scaling, I would rescale it in 3DS Max and it would not change when I re-imported it into Unity, finally however after deleting history I was able to get it to work, but that alone took probably almost a day.
New emissive color (the pink tint is from the environment) Half a day was taken up by a seminar in report writing, after that, I came back and fixed the whole version of the mining drone so that it would also be in white neon as base. Once that was done I say with the crystals and tried to do the same, but due to them using 2 colors, cyan and white, it simply didn’t get the right result. Even when I replaced what used to be white with almost black to give a sense of distinction, it was simply covered by the bright light of the other emissive part. As such I decided to leave them alone. After that I started to attempt to animate our bow, however as I have never animated anything before and there wasn’t much information about how to make a good bow animation from the start I simply found it a too big task to handle so after trying for two days I decided to give the task over to someone who was better at animation to not cause issues further on as the bow is very relevant for the game and is likely to most important weapon. For the last bit of the week I sat and looked at the crafting station which will be getting a texture overhaul and white neon. |
