BGP – Day 2
Target AudienceSo today I’ve done several things, first the day started with me having to create something that will summarize our target audience for our presentation tomorrow. Since we don’t have the time to research for and find our specific target audience we instead choose to look at similar games that we are inspired by. Therefor it is easy to state that our game will appeal to players that like those games since they will be similar to ours. This is what I came up with.
This is the three thematic styles and inspirations we have. Which includes the Mystical part from Myst & Obduction. And the Morbid and dark feeling from Amnesia. Lastly we have the Majestic feeling of exploration from Indiana Jones. Also later during this day we had a meeting with Håkan, one of our teachers to discuss the presentation. A discussion arose about what mechanics we had in the game and how they should be presented during the presentation, since we should present all our final mechanics that the player will have as it is more appealing for the audience. But we have been more focused on the mechanics in the beginning of our vertical slice since we might not be able to finish all of the other. So we will see how this pans out. Playing with fireAfter this I returned to exploring the particles effect and if I could get them to follow an animation from a character. Since our character will be able to light her arm on fire. So I manage to get some particles to follow the arm, then i tried with a preset fire that is in the engine. This didn’t look so good so I tried creating a new fire that was more torch like and it looked a little bit better when applied to the animation. Here’s a video that shows how this looks like.
First the standard flame is shown, then the flame I created and finally the animation with the flame applied. For some reason the flame not only follows the arm but also spawns on the ground, and is something I will see if I can fix.
That’s all for today, take care! |
