Preparation for Presentation

Whaddup,

This monday it is time for the presentation of the Beta version. This will be almost completely the same as the Alpha presentation, except the game should be better (hopefully)!

Now in the post where I talk about my fears of doing presentations I mention that I usually exaggerate in before the presentation. I build it up as if there are 1000 people watching and everyone will judge me if I make a mistake. Due to this of course I get nervous. This time it will be different.

I need to remember that these people in front of me are my peers. They are genuinely interested in what I am about to present. Aside from that our game is something I’m really proud of which should increase my confidence while going on stage.

The thought process behind the presentation was not that different from last time. Due to the similarity behind the questions asked about the alpha and beta I decided to use the same powerpoint as the last time I presented. I replaced the old pros and cons with the new ones and our new vision for the Final version.

After that I gave my team a chance to weigh in on what I had suggested to bring up. There were some design suggestions but most of the main text was agreed with.

The last part is about trying to learn the text as well as I possibly can. I know myself, so I know I won’t learn it by heart. But just well enough so that I feel comfortable looking at the audience from time to time. I think that in the past I have had problems presenting due to my lack of interest in the subject, this is different. This is something I actually care about, our game. I want it to be presented in a good and professional way.

I hope that I won’t feel as nervous as I usually am before a presentation. But even if I am, I feel that I’m progressing and feeling more safe talking in front of a big crowd.

This is a progress I’m really happy about.

Leiman out.
