Blog post Game Enemy Spawner, and Cover Art 5SD064

After last weeks aggravating assignment of working on animations. I decided to give myself a bit of a break (My Production Manager wanted a title cover for the Presentation). I didn’t complain it was a break from animation. It was a nice change of pace.

Title Cover for Game

When it came to the design of the Cover title page, I took my inspiration from the GTA V Title Cover. The concept of our game is based on playing on two screens, so I thought I would do a line straight through the middle of the cover as to give a bit of an insight into what it would be like to play the game, as well as giving a look at what they can expect from the game-play. The views that you have on the spawn and the hacking ship, are not in the same perspective of that in the game. I did this to mix up the look a bit as well, mainly because I felt that having it in the same perspective, would have taken away from the from the look of the cover.

Heavy Enemy and Heavy Spawner

After finishing the Title Cover, I began working on a second enemy unit and a spawner for it. The most difficult part was finding inspiration for how i wanted it to look. I began by googling “Computer Part” and looking around to see if I could draw any inspiration, haha get it cause I am an artist. But anyways, i eventually started looking at computer fans and started to draw that. After I had a fan drawn, our group had a discussion about what the fan could do, if it would be the spawner or just an obstacle. We  eventually settled on having it be both. So I made a simple 4 frame animation of the fan spinning. We decided that if the fan was spinning it would be immune it attacks from the player damage, and it would spawn in a heavy enemy. I probably enjoyed making the fan and the animation for it a bit too much, what can say, I guess i am just a fan of fans.
