|
For the past week my team and I have been working on creating a playable shoot em’ up game called Selfish. Being a graphics student I, along with two other group members, were assigned the task of creating the game art. It was our job to absorb the words used to describe the game and provide a visual representation of what it should look like. Not knowing what my team was expecting I drew some rough sketches as concept art. The concept art was drawn in various different character types to allow for proper communication of what they had envisioned for main character. After tossing most of the concept art aside the group members agreed upon one of the conceptual pieces. (Pictured below).
Going off of this concept art I set about making a fish that would resemble the original drawing, however differing it slightly to give it a more rounded and cleaner look as well as including color.
After more consulting I realized that my team had preferred that I stuck with the original concept for the main character provided by the team before us. Using the model in the document I re sketched the character in my own style and had it drawn out in Photoshop without color. It came out a bit crude, but with extra time I could reshape it.
Having gotten approval from my group members on the concept I went ahead and dedicated time into creating a cleaner version of the character. I decided to throw in some color to help get a better feel for the character.
