The main project I spend most my time working on this week was animations for our game Bullet Hack. The Animation Sprite Sheet above is one of three I have been working on this week on for the Beta Version of our game. The animation is for the main character’s Side-ward Walking Animations (walking left or right). I have also been working on the Upward Walking Animation of our main character this week, but I have been running into problems with how much of the legs and the feet should be visible during each frame. This is also our finalized concept for our main character. We wanted to do a simple approach to our main character, we wanted to show that he looked as quiet and mysterious as possible. By that I wanted to have his face covered in a dark shadow so you couldn’t see any features. To this end, I also wanted it to looked like he was hiding in his trench coat.  Therefore, in the animation you don’t see much movement in his head, arms, or body, except for when he is walking. This all goes back to the mysteriousness of our main character, we had several meetings debating if we wanted “IT” to be human, alien, or something else. In the end, we decided to let the player decide what, he is. The benefit of doing this game is that we don’t have to worry about shading. The game is played on two sides of the screen. The top screen when the player is controlling the main character, the character is navigating through an office building that will be well lit. Sense there will be lighting all around the character, there won’t be much overarching shading on the main, other than on the inside of his trench coat behind his head. Maybe some on the ground, but other than that we wouldn’t need to worry too much about that. Other than that, my main goal for the week is to finish the Upward walking animation and start working on the Downward Walking Animation. That’s it for this week, see you next time.
