Big Game Project week 2

This week had its ups and downs. There are so many things to be decided that I haven´t got the faintest clue about how to do. I have never made a 3D game before in my entire life! The thing I’ve been trying to figure out this week is how her attack animations will work and how they should be programmed. I cant just say “she should have a big sword and wave it around and stuff” Will she make a combo? In that case how many steps? And what will it look like? How is the animations suppose to blend with one another? ..You catch the drift. Once a kid that had been playing one of our games with his brother on the boat on the way over here asked us “how do you make games?” Uhm, yeah? We would like to know that as well kid, haha. Anyway I am here to learn and I can tell that I’ve really got a lot to learn from this project.

So, this week I worked a bit on Kei´s textures and tried to learn how Unity works when it comes to materials since we got to learn that in Unreal while the programmers learned Unity. We decided to go with Unity since the game pretty much wont exist if it weren’t for the programmers. Better safe than sorry. So us graphical students have to learn Unity now instead.  I managed to create a basic texture for Kei as I am experimenting and this it what it looks like so far.

She will be getting a lot more done, like the details on her shoes like a white toe or something, so that she isn’t all single coloured fields. I will also be tweaking her a little bit more to fix the things I currently don’t feel to happy about, like the nose.

Also we started with the sword so I will be doing with some animations to try it out during this week. I will upload some gifs of it when I get started so stay tuned! Have a great nights sleep everyone, (like the whole two people reading this blog xD) anyways, good night!
