Blog 3
Options menu
David Isaksson Grp 9.
This week has been one of screens and explosions, i have made explosions for about 13 hours, but since i have only been covering explosions in my other blog posts, i thought it would be a change of pace to show something new.
So therefore this week i have been working on our options screen which will be found under the main menu screen.
The options menu will allow the player to manage sound settings and the controls.
Under sound settings there will be two bars, one for music volume and one for controlling the volume of the sound effects.
The color scheme is pastel like the rest of the games aesthetics, as described in the concept document, to keep an unison look of the entire game both in game and in the menus.
When the player wants to change the music volume, he/ she simply grabs the scroll bar (the red circle shown below) and slides it along the yellow axis, with the right end of the bar being the loudest, and the left end being the lowest/ the mute.
The same goes for the ”SFX” bar, the right end being the loudest and the left end of the bar means you have muted the sound effects.
These sound settings control both the music and sound effects in the game (background music and for example the sound effects for shooting) but it also controls the background sounds for the different menus and screens.

Under controls the player will be able to chose between playing with right handed controls or left handed controls by clicking one of the boxes labeled ”lefty” or ”righty”.
The controls are preset and can not be changed as it is today.
When the player clicks on one of the boxes they will change color to communicate to the player what controls are active, as seen in the picture below. I might need to make the color contrast more apparent.
-Right handed controls chosen-

As the attentive reader might have noticed the control boxes does not really explain what the controls are. They can only see that the game will be controlled by these buttons in some constellation, not which button will do what.
So this is something i have yet to do before this week is up.
I am rather happy with how this options screen is coming along, it is not done yet and I still have some fixing to do, some bigger and some smaller.
But over all I am pleased.
