So I fixed up the submenu transition effect and while it works as intended I’m not sure it looks too good, but it’ll suffice for now . The bigger detail I added was that I changed up the boring and creepy fully black background to something a bit more interesting:

GameDev Xmas Challenge – Hour 13: Start menu stuff

Prior to this session I setup a to-do spreadsheet that is publically viewable at this link, which I’ll try to update as I go along . Other than that I mostly just worked on the start menu today, not much significant progress though. Still figuring out how I want to structure the code and reusable parts as efficiently as possible, as I plan to change lots of graphical design later.

HEVGA meet-up in Washington

Last week, we … (last week already. Where does the time go?)
Last week we travelled to Washington, D.C. for an Unconference with the Higher Education in Video Games Association.

The gathering was titled “Games + Higher Education + National Impact.” HEVGA described it this this:

GameDev Xmas Challenge – Hour 11-12: Better drawing

Today I smashed two hours and improved on the drawing. Firstly the gray background is gone from the marker when placed and what you draw now acts as a mask for a black image (though it’s still in during the drawing phase, working on that.) and secondly you now draw a connected rounded thick line (like a common paint brush in image editors) instead of those black disconnected squares which makes drawing so much more precise and pleasant.
