Game Design in practise

Hi everyone!!

The course ”Game Design in practise” has just started. For this course we (the students) will be looking a lot more at marketing, finding a target audience and entrepreneurship. Most student groups will continue doing their BGP games that we did for GGC last spring. For BGP me and a friend had a concept of a board game that
we wanted to do, but in the end we chose to do different projects for that course.

So I thought “why not doing it for this course?” and asked my friend. His name is Ladbon and we are going to make our board game. Last spring it was named Hexa, but right now the project is called Worlds at War. I will post more about the concept in this blog but right now I want to talk about my goals for this project and course.

So, my goals would be:

Target audience: to find and establish a stable target audience group. What type of people plays board games , and how do we find them? How do you reach out with a
physical product anyway?

Marketing: how do the target audience find you? Can we get game testers to play our game? I guess we will do much “AARRR” iterations trying to do our best reaching out with this product.

Board/table top games: last goal for me would be making a board game. I know nothing about making board games in the first place. We have had some assignments where we have done table top games but that was more of paper prototypes and for our classmates. Now I want to make a market ready (or as ready as I manage to do it) table top game and all what that includes.

Wow I think I might have set to heavy goals for me, but this is what I will aim for. You know, better aim too high than too low.

Anyhow, that’s it for now. Cya in the next post!
