5 week project: Heartbeat bat

This week we began working on our pitch for the five week project. We are now closing in on the final week. Lisa from our group was working on the design through Powerpoint while the rest of us focused on the text and images for the pitch.
I myself tried to figure out how to make a gif. I also did a sprite sheet with 22 pictures of our bat (Crank) and when I finally added all the images together I didn’t like the way it all turned out, so I ended up deleting 17, which left me with only 5. The result came out decent, not exactly how I envisioned it, but good enough. I also made them into gif files through Photoshop, but when I tried to export the file a bunch of white stuff showed up around the bat, and since I couldn’t locate the problem in the files I thought the issue might’ve come from some random setting. 15 attempts later I managed to remove some of the white stuff. Again, not exactly what I envisioned but still decent.
When the pitch began looking finished, we let Isak from our group be the spokesman. We were to meet one hour before the presentation so that he’d get some extra time to go through it before the real thing. However, everyone showed up late and he only got 25 minutes. He read from the actual Powerpoint a little before we showed up but when he finally stood on the stage uncomfortably and with the script in his hand it all went south. It was probably due to a mix of reasons. Like nervousness, not knowing how the script was written and lack of over-all practice.
Our pitch earned a lot of criticism and I felt responsible for how bad it turned out. We hadn’t provided him with the opportunity to practice the script, and that wasn’t fair to him. But he did it anyway and I’m thankful for that. He told us he wanted revenge for the fiasco and now he’s got all of us meeting up to help him work on it.
Additionally, we also got criticism for the Powerpoint itself, because it seemed a bit gloomy for a children’s game. Lina thought we should’ve made it a little more colorful and used some happier fonts. The game wasn’t focused on a specific enough audience and we failed to present enough of how the game works mechanically. I don’t even think people knew the entire map (in-game) was supposed to be darkened.
We have a lot of work to do next week I fear.
