3D modeling organic characters – Assignment 3 update
|
As our final assignment for our 3D graphics course we students are going to model organic characters. Before modeling, a lot of time was put in to finding good concepts with turnarounds and later then creating a character background and setting for that chosen model. In other words, a full fletched pre-production package had to be made. During class the teacher told us to later switch pre-production packages with one another and the package I got was from a student named Simon Brundin who can be found here; https://harttago.wordpress.com. The concept I got was of a one eyed mummy which I will write some more about in further blogs. In order to get a better understanding of where your edges should go a good tip is to first do an edge flow reference to get a feel of the overall shape. Below is my edge flow plan for the mummy character. As the character is a female with a somewhat realistic female body already, I started doing my basic 3D model with human reference pictures found online. Once I get the basic female shape down the only thing I have to do is to exaggerate and simplify the proportions and shapes as needed. Below is a screencap of my progress so far. This post acts more as a short visual update on this assignment. There will be more posts coming up that will go into further detail of this later on. |
