A Font

I have recently finished the baptismal font I was working on. Since a font is usually filled with water during baptisms, I decided to try and use that in the texture. I added algae to bowl and decorations. I figured that the font might have been kept in use for a very long time, even though the font and church in which it belonged had fallen into ruin. Then the font would have remained wet after ceremonies, water would have been splashed and trickled down the sides, and algae would have begun to grow. Another reason to adding the algae was that the ruins in Uncharted were often overgrown, and I wanted to bring that out in the font. However,  It might have become a bit much, and I think it clashes a little with the cold climate the font is in.

The colors I used were mainly green (algae) and yellow (stone), though I added some red around the green parts to add some contrast. I thought the font would probably be interacted with in some way, and so wanted the contrasting colors by the decorations to grab the players attention.

I had some problems with the heads sticking out from the sides. When I started texturing, I realized that the seams were not that well placed, and it was very difficult to to make all the edges blend, as well as getting the faces aligned. So far, I have only been making textures in Photoshop, I think using something like 3D Coat to draw directly onto the model might have made the heads easier to make. Or I could just try to plan better for the seams to facilitate texturing. In any case, I will probably try both for the next assignment.
