3D – Week 5 – Assignment 2 update

Here we go, finally an update on Assignment 2. I feel that I’m about a week behind schedule, but I’m trying and working as hard as I can to catch up again. This will be a short update, just to show you how far I’ve come. As mentioned in one of my last blogposts, I’ve been stupidly busy lately with many different assignments at once. For this assignment (Assignment 2 in the 3D1 course) we were tasked with modelling real-life objects that we photographed at the museum a couple of weeks back. I’ve been modelling a medieval collection plate that you can see in my other post here.

Assignment2_01 Assignment2_02This is what I’ve done so far. It’ll probably need some more optimizing before I start UV-mapping it, but hopefully that won’t take too long. As you can see, each part of the model is coloured differently. That’s because I’ve modelled each part separately, and then put them together. I haven’t connected the parts to each other yet, but I’ll do that when I’ve finished optimizing each part.

Something that I’ve come to realize is that I’ve created the model backwards, so that the “back” of the model is turned to the “front” in the program and vice versa. When I’ve connected all of the parts and finished optimizing the model I’ll probably turn it around. I also seem to have made the model at a very small scale, and will perhaps see if I can scale it up a little.

Assignment2_03That’s it for now. I hope that you’re having a great weekend, and I look forward to having a weekend myself sometime in the future when I manage to catch up with my schedule.

MPh out.
