My first Game Jam

My first jam. This Friday we had the opportunity to participate in a game jam on school campus. I have never done this before so I figured it would be a great opportunity for me to see how things work and test learning under pressure.
Even more important to get to know new people from the 2 and 3 years so I´ll have someone to learn from in the future.

We were a team of 6, two people from first year (including me), two people from second year and two people from third year. 5 of us were in graphics class and one from programming class.

The theme was ”Addiction X”. The first thing we did was brainstorm what kind of theme we´d go with and what would be suitable for our limited amount of time. We ended up going with a management game where the player would have to manage different addictions.
The addictions was shown as bars that the player would have to refill by ”using” the certain addiction before the bar got completely drained. The player had to run around a small neighborhood and make sure to gather all the addictions in time.
For the style we went with top view and pixel art.

We went with the name Sims Destructive as you can tell. Logo made by me.

We managed to finish in time with a working game and I´m already looking forward to the next jam. Can not wait to be the one putting it all together even if it is quite some time and skills from now. My head is already exploding with ideas.
