Paper Hero

Yesterday we got the task to pick a famous digital game, analyze its ”core experience” – the stuff that makes the game fun to play, which can be different from game to game – and make our own boardgame version of the game. My group of 5 choosed Guitar Hero. The tricky part is now to make this into a boardgame and still keep the core experience from Guitar Hero…

This is how our prototype looked yesterday on its early stage:

…which later became:

The idea we had is to have someone to pull a long paper (lots of A4 and tape) filled with notes with different colours (Similar to guitar hero) while the player has to, with her fingers smeared in paint, hit all the passing notes with the fingers. Timing is important! We also had music playing in the background so the player would feel more like hes/shes actually playing the music, which was honestly doubtful.. But the game was alot of fun!

People who tried the game seemed to like it! (Scoreboard on the background)
