Big Game Project (week6)
|
It’s been a productive week even dough the first days were spent discussing feedback from last week’s alpha presentation, we also had a meeting with a teacher about our graphical style and production pace which we needed some guidance and advice with. Our work flow have been effected by that we constantly asked for feedback about the things we were doing on the graphical part instead of finishing it first, we believed this would save us time so that we didn’t have to remake a final product and instead make changes directly so we could move on to the next object, this turned out to be the opposite. Instead we were stuck with the same task for a longer time than necessary which resulted that we didn’t have as much ‘’fine’’ art in game as we’d wanted. There are only a few weeks left and hopefully things will move on faster from now on. After spending hours discussing the command center design and the art meeting I began working on turnarounds and then the soldier animations to be able to produce something relatively fast and get back my flow.
Here is the command center that the player needs to protect from the incoming enemies. (not the final image)
The walk animations for the soldier. Once the soldier animations were done I took a break from the animations and created the base towers instead so that our game would look more complete for the print screens that are going to be displayed on Gotland Game Conference, which had a deadline on Friday. Afterwards I continued with animating the last enemy, the mercenary.
How the towers looked like before, which were fast mockups for the Alpha. (Arrow, Poison, Ballistic and Magic tower)
What the towers look like at the moment (Arrow, Poison, Ballistic and Magic). The towers were design to match the material that is required to build it. For example, to build the arrow tower the player has to match wood, to build a poison tower the player has to match poison bottles and so forth. All the new materials are displayed in the screen shots below.
The print screens that were created for Gotland Game Conference, which is in less than three weeks.
The walk animations for the mercenary.
The upcoming week the lead artist and I will focus on feedback the player gets by matching objects and feedback overall in the game as well as creating a trailer for our game. I’m really looking forward to it, especially creating the trailer since it’s my first time doing one, so stay tuned for updates! 😀 For those who have missed, we have a new webpage for our project. At http://deconstructeddevelopment.com/ you can follow the progress within the whole group to get a better overview how things are going. |
