Big Game Project (week5)

My focus in big game project this week has been the animations of the enemies for our alpha presentation. I continued on the Pikeman front animation which I started with last week and as I added frames I noticed how blurry the arms, legs and pike became after rotating and moving them, which added extra work since I had to clean up the worst parts.

I made one side at the time and begun with the front and the back. When I was done with them I could easier focus on the animations from the sides which also are little more complicated to make due to more movements of the arms and legs.

Before I could begin on the cavalry animations I had to remake it in the right size and then make a turnaround from the front design that I made last week. Once again I saved the right and left sides for last since they require more attention because more of the character is revealed.

Once I was done with the turnarounds and coloring I got the front and back animations done quite fast but the sides took much longer than expected. I haven’t worked much with animations before so I didn’t really have any specific expectations, but when I started animation the sides I noticed fast that if the animations were to look good I had to redraw the horses legs several times which was something that I didn’t anticipate.

I managed to get the animations done before the alpha presentation but unfortunately I was done too late because the programmers didn’t get enough time to implement the cavalry animations into the game.

The animations are not completely finished yet and need some more polishing which are saved for the last weeks of the project, right now I must first make turnarounds and animations for the remaining enemies and towers as well.
