Big Game Project Week 5
|
This week i have put a lot of focus on getting ready for the alpha showing that we had during the Friday. I started the week out by doing some research on how i would go about in implementing a gui/hud for the game, by looking at some examples and reading the documentation i managed to understand how to set up a basic hud element. With this i made so that when the player have the ability to activate a mirror or pull a lever a text pop-up will appear instructing the player on how to do so. I also managed to set up a basic pause menu as well as a very basic start menu, in these menus the player can exit/start the game. I also worked on making the mirror auto activate when the player comes in contact with it, although it is not completely working as intended it’s a start to work more upon. I did not manage to get it working the way i wanted to as there is a lot to factor into a ladder that activates automatically. I also did not figure out a good way to have the player get off and on the ladder in a smooth way. In addition to the listed stuff already i have worked with various more items, stuff like bugg fixes or small features or tweaks. At the end of the week i had to help the level designer to get the lighting working the way we need it too, it took quite some time with trying out difference things such as post processing settings and other things in the levels. We also had some issues during the Friday morning where we were unable to build the project into a working .exe file but at the last minute we managed to get it working by having the level designer downloading and fully rebuilding the game. During the alpha showing we got a lot of good feedback regarding our game, most of it involved explaining to the player how the game works as well as giving the player a lot more feedback of what happens in the game. This is what i will be working on in the coming week. |
