Totemic

Last week the class got to divide itself into new groups for a new course to start making games for the Gotland Game Conference (GGC). Half of my old team is the same with the addition of one artist, one designer/artist and one coder. The theme of the GGC is unconventional controls and after completing “Terminal” we wanted to focus on keeping it simple and polishing it to perfection.
We started a few weeks before starting the course with brainstorming what […]

A bit from the 2D 2 assignment. Quick post!

This course ended two weeks ago, i failed one of the assignments, that was creating a storyboard to present a moment that would take place in a game. The first one was an animation but it failed, so i thought of making a storyboard from a story i posted earlier (Emely http://wp.me/s3Yksj-emely ).
So i did a quick storyboard and i finally passed. But now there is a reflective assignment left to do. (I edited the text dialog’s a […]

First week of Big game project

So the first week of Big Game Project, project that will eventually be on the GGC floor has started
The concept itself was not done during this week but has been iterated upon for several weeks beforehand so we knew exactly what to do once the course started, thus giving us more time in the production phase.
The concept is a fast paced adventure game where your avatar is a robot that is broken, for the player to move you have to […]

Big game is starting.

Prologue
This week the course “Big Game Project” started, during the weeks leading up to this project we’ve been working on a concept that Jonatan Keil proposed with the working title “Open Circuit” and thus the group Freshly Squeezed was created. The game is to be created in the Unity engine.

(Click here to read the concept pitch,The colour errors are due to Google Drive)

Big Game: Week 1

This first week I created a basic bejeweled clone.
I started with a grid that I filled with differently coloured squares, representing the different resources in the game. I made code that lit up a square if it was clicked and also changed it into a fixed color, for testing purposes. This was done during the first day of the week, so some time was also used to understand Unity which I have very little experience with. The way I have […]

Big Game Project – Week 1

Week 1 is now over. It’s been a both short and long week, if that makes any sense. I haven’t had this much fun working on a game for a long time, so time has been flying, but at the same time there have been long days which feels quite exhausting towards the end of the week, especially when I’m not used to it from the lack of work the last couple of weeks.
As I mentioned earlier we’re using Unity […]

Big Game Project (week 1)

The Big Game Project has finally begun and things are going great so far. This week I’m not going to spoil too much about the game that we are creating but go more into detail what I’ve been working with.
This week I’ve been focusing on re-drawing the material placeholders that I drew last weekend. If I haven’t mentioned before, I use Photoshop and my Wacom Intuos 4S for most of my drawings, If I use other tools I’ll be mentioning […]
