This week the next course began. In the course we are supposed to work in groups to make a game and input system for arcade machines.
My team is going for a game where you feed a crocodile and help it eat. You move the “crocodiles” teeth in a puzzle manner to eat the different kinds of foods that the crocodile is going to eat. The teeth have to be placed in certain places for it being able to eat the next piece of food. And the game is controlled with the teeth and a lever. You place the teeth in the way the screen tells you and then pull the lever to make the crocodile eat the food.
Right now we don’t know how it will be played out in the manner of speed but one concept is that every piece of food you get in front of you have a time limit, if you don’t manage to eat it before the time has hit 0 you lose 1 health out of 3. And the longer into the game you get the faster the timer will be.
The controller is made so that you can play alone and also with a friend or two if you want to. To ge a feeling of how the arcade machine would look like I made a rough 3D model of it.
Here is the concept sketch for the input device with the teeth and the lever:
So here you could see the teeth moved as to represent how it could look when you placed them to eat something.
Later we are gonna show our game at Gotland Game Conference, GGC. So we ant our arcade game to be visible in the crowd and next to all the other arcade games that are gonna be shown. So we tought of a design where the top of the crocodiles mouth would be on top of the arcade machine.
Here is a 3D model sketch of it:

Thanks for reading.
Here is some links to the 3D objects on Sketchfab where you can turn and move it so you look at it from all angles.
