More animations
|
Animations, animations, animations is all I basically have been doing. I am putting the strafe animations on the shelf for now since I do not think I will have time to make them. I have given them a shot but they look like crap. The attack animations are quite difficult to get right too but I am working hard on them right now. So far I only have got a really rough attack animation for the fast kids but I am working to get it to look smooth. As you can see it looks quite horrible at the moment. I have re-worked the bike kid’s walking animation and given it a lot more life. In the old one the only moving part of the sprite was the feet of the kid doing the cycling. Now his head bobs back and forth and his arms move a little bit as he is cycling. The girls piggy-tails are moving in the wind too to give the feeling of speed. I have also re-worked the sponge animation to make the sponge look less solid. People were saying it looked like you were shooting yellow bricks at the kids so I decided to make the sponge move more and give it an even more cartoon-ish look. I quickly re-drew all the frames in, like, ten minutes so I did not have to spend so much time on it. Apart from the animations I am also re-creating the game logo for the main menu. I am trying to make it look a lot cleaner than it does now and I am trying to give the wooden plank texture a more cartoon-ish look. The current logo is quite raw and the texture looks too realistic. I have also got the assignment to make the final power point presentation. We got some critique on the beta presentation because we had not given the power point itself any love. So, being the one with most power point experience apparently, I am making a custom background for the presentation in the same theme as the main menu in the game. I am going to put the main menu background as the and make the text boxes look like wooden planks. If I feel like I have the time I will add animations to the power point to give it more life. I believe that a good looking power point presentation represents 50% of the result of the presentation itself. I have also been reading up on javascript in attempt to teach myself how to make scripts for Photoshop. I want to create a script that makes it easy to make sprite sheets directly in Photoshop without having to use an external program like sprite sheet packer. That’s all for now. |
